The stern frame of the light cruiser Hawke at No. 5 Slip, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
The stern frame for the light cruiser Hawke being swung into position from alongside No. 5 Slip in Portsmouth Dockyard. The lift is being undertaken using a derrick post and triple pulley block from which two wires are shackled to the stern frame. No. 3 Smithery is in the right background and a destroyer is berthed on North Corner Jetty. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P97/44 has been written on the right side of the negative.
