The stern frame of the light cruiser Hawke at No. 5 Slip, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
The stern frame for the light cruiser Hawke being swung into position over the keel blocks on No. 5 Slip in Portsmouth Dockyard. The lift is being undertaken using a derrick post and triple pulley block from which two wires are shackled to the stern frame. Four men are on the keel blocks hauling on a rope to guide the stern frame into position. A destroyer is berthed on North Corner Jetty. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P99/44 has been written near the bottom right corner of the negative.
