Looking down on the after part of the United States destroyer Nelson (1942) from above the port side on North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard showing the missing No. 4 gun mount and stern and the damage to the superstructure supporting No. 3 gun mount. Her stern was blown off by a torpedo from the German motor torpedo boat S.138 off Omaha Beach, Normandy, and temporary repairs were undertaken in Portsmouth Dockyard to enable her to get to Londonderry.
