A close view of the port side of the hull by the end of the solid bulwark amidships of the United States destroyer Nelson (1942) on North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard. Her hull is corrugated. Her stern was blown off by a torpedo from the German motor torpedo boat S.138 off Omaha Beach, Normandy, and temporary repairs were undertaken in Portsmouth Dockyard to enable her to get to Londonderry.
