The damaged frigate Trollope (1943) on North Corner Jetty, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
The afterpart of the frigate Trollope (1943) berthed alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard, viewed from ahead. The photographer is on the bow of the tank landing ship LST 160 (1942) which is berthed ahead of the frigate. The entire forepart of the Trollope (1943) is missing, up to and including the foremast, having been blown off by a torpedo from a German S-boat off the Normandy beaches on 6 Jul. 1944. Berthed outboard of her is a tank landing craft and the armament carrier Howitzer (1943). Astern is a U S N tank landing ship and the British tank landing ship LST 238 (1943).
