The damaged frigate Trollope (1943) on North Corner Jetty, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A close view of the starboard side amidships of the frigate Trollope (1943) berthed alongside North Corner Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard, looking down from the jetty onto the hull around the funnel. The upper part of the funnel is out of the picture. The entire forepart of the Trollope (1943) is missing, up to and including the foremast, having been blown off by a torpedo from a German S-boat off the Normandy beaches on 6 Jul. 1944. Berthed outboard of her is a tank landing craft and the armament carrier Howitzer (1943).
