A close starboard side view of damage repairs being undertaken to the hull aft under the superstructure of the U S tank landing ship LST 543 (1944) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the top of the dock looking slightly forward and to port. A section of plating from the upper two strakes, just below deck level, has been cut away using an oxy-acetylene cutting torch and a further piece is in the process of being removed. U S naval ratings are looking over the deck rail watching proceedings.
