On board the torpedo damaged repair ship Albatross (1928) docked down in a dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, looking out through the ship's port side from a crew space on the lower deck. No work has yet been started to clear the debris. The Lower deck has been drastically forced up on the left of the picture. The ship was hit by a torpedo off Ouistreham and the forward third of the hull was flooded. Towed to Portsmouth for repair but repairs not fully completed. Negatives numbers N25654 to N25663 inclusive may all be taken in one large crew space, possibly No. 2 mess.
