The damaged minesweeper Salamander (1936) in Portsmouth Harbour, Hampshire

A close view of the wrecked stern of the minesweeper Salamander (1936) taken from off the starboard quarter. She is laid up at moorings in the entrance to Fareham Creek in Portsmouth Harbour. Her stern was destroyed by rocket fire from Royal Air Force Typhoon aircraft off Cap d'Antifer on 27 Aug. 1944.
