The crew of the aircraft carrier Indefatigable (1942), which is afloat in D Lock, Portsmouth Dockyard, standing in divisions on the flight deck during an inspection by H.M. King George VI. He was on a tour of the dockyard on 16 November 1944 and inspected the ship for an hour from 10.50 a.m. Most of the men are standing at ease while the King inspects two divisions of men on the starboard side, who are all at attention. The photographer is looking forward and to port from the island. A crawler crane is parked on the starboard side of the flight deck ahead of the island.
