The construction of a new caisson for Singapore's King George VI Dry Dock in A Lock, Portsmouth Dockyard. The photographer is looking north-west from the south side of the top of the lock near the east end. The main plating appears to be complete and riveters are working on the flat decks. German destroyers and torpedo boats are berthed alongside the promontory in No. 3 Basin.
