A design for the making of a plaque to be placed on the Main Gate of Portsmouth Dockyard. The plaque is to read "In order to meet the needs of modern road traffic and with the approval of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty this gate built in 1711 was increased in width from 12 ft to 22 ft November 1943". The instructions on the bottom of the design sheet read "Crown to be cut in "carvo relievo" (recessed low relief). Lettering to be cut with "V" section and painted blue. Actual size of inscription." Vertical format.
