A close view of part of the port bow of the submarine Terrapin (1943) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the side wall of the dock looking to starboard, showing the fore end of the ballast tank. This shows the damage to the hull received during a severe depth charge attack off Jakarta, Dutch East Indies on 19 May 1945. 40 feet of the port side forward was buckled in to a maximum depth of 15 inches. Her damaged fore hydroplanes were removed at Fremantle prior to the voyage home.
