A piece of steel plating salvaged from the wreck of the German battleship Tirpitz (1939), sunk in Tromsöfjord, Norway, photographed in Portsmouth Dockyard. Printed on the steel is the note "Tirpitz - sheer strake aft 50 lbs plate". Other arrowed annotations are deck edge, butt weld, bulwark angle, caulking mark, brackets, tack and tack welds.
