A 1000 kg German bomb dropped on the M.C.D. Painters Shop, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A photograph depicting the 1000 kilogram German bomb that was dropped on the M.C.D. Painters Shop, Portsmouth Dockyard, on Easter Sunday 1942, but failed to explode. It is displayed standing on its tail and painted on it is the inscription "An Easter egg from one painter to another". The inscription was devised and painted by Mr P V Jarvis, the foreman of painters. A copy negative produced by the Portsmouth Dockyard official photographer on 26 Nov. 1945. Vertical format.
