Inside the submarine X24 (1944) while she is dried out on the pontoon dock at HMS Dolpin, Haslar, Gosport. Looking forward from about frame 38 in the control room. The periscope is in the centre and the helmsman's position is on the starboard side. The circular hatch to the wet and dry compartment is ahead of the helmsman. The side charge release wheels are on either side amidships. On the deckhead beam are gauges for the trim and compensating tanks.
