The dockyard from the Semaphore Tower, Portsmouth, Hampshire
Looking north-by-west from the Semaphore Tower in Portsmouth Dockyard. The South Camber and the Mooring Ground are in the foreground. On the Mooring Ground there are large numbers of buoys, moorings, chain cables and very large link chains. Alongside Boat House and Pitch House Jetties is the cruiser Kenya (1939). On Sheer and North Railway Jetties are tank landing craft, minesweepers and a tug. The battleship Vanguard (1944) is on Middle Slip Jetty.
