The rangefinding section of the Gun Mounting Factory in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.
The interior of the rangefinding section of the Gun Mounting Factory, adjacent to No. 15 Dry Dock in Portsmouth Dockyard. The photographer is looking north from the top of the stairs leading to the upper work balcony at the south end of the building. There are three rows of machines and work stations on the main floor and the upper balcony contains work benches with vices on them. The clock on the wall is reading 10.30 but the building is devoid of activity as it is Saturday.
