Looking east along the quay from the north side of the outer caisson of D Lock in Portsmouth Dockyard. A number of propellers are on the left with winches or windlasses in the foreground, one being marked "ex Fury", which was a destroyer of 1934 written off as a constructive total loss in 1944. The aircraft carrier Victorious (1939), seen from very fine off her port quarter, is in D Lock. The incomplete aircraft carrier Leviathan (1945), seen from off her starboard quarter, is alongside 8 berth on the left.
