The 240 ton hammerhead crane lifting a gun mounting on the Promontory, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
An RP10 Mark IV 4.5" gun mounting on the Park's of Portsmouth low loader number 45, hauled by lorry tractor unit CTP 224, parked on the Promontory, No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard. It is being prepared to be lifted by the 240 ton hammerhead crane. The photographer is looking at the front of the turret. In the background is the Royal Navy lorry 44382 RN. The light cruiser Belfast (1938) is alongside the Promontory under refit.
