Shipping a BTH transformer from the Promontory in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
An 82 ton British Thompson Houston transformer being hoisted from the Promontory in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, by the 240 ton hammerhead crane. It is about to be loaded onto the Clyde Shipping Co's vessel which is berthed outboard of a Wave class fleet oiler berthed on the south side of the Promontory. The photographer is looking north-west-by-west and the fleet replenishment ship Bulawayo (1937) is in the background berthed on the north side of the Promontory.
