Inside a deckhouse on the experimental atomic and biological research ship Ben Lomond (1945) during her refit in Portsmouth Dockyard showing one of the laboratories. The work benches are fitted with numerous bunsen burners and the drawers under the benches contain sterile test tubes and pipettes. On the left is a bank of steel cupboards. In the centre of the end wall is a cylindrical unit manufactured by M.S.E. and on either side is a large wooden door dogged shut. Rectangular windows are in the right wall. Ventilation trunking is fitted to the deckhead. See also negative number N27018.
