A notice attached to the excavator reads "Type 2A E.M.B. excavator 1737/2 built for Stothert & Pitt by H.M. Dockyard, Portsmouth October 1948". The notice has been re-used and the number has been changed but not the date. No. 1 Ship Shop can be seen on the left and No. 2 Smithery is in the right background.
