Crossing Border

'Crossing Border' combines the tradition of Indo-Persian miniature painting with contemporary politics. It is painted using natural pigments on fabriano paper. Inspired by Hokusai's 'The Great Wave', the work depicts the journey of a migrant boat attempting to cross a border, a journey that Saleh himself as a refugee. The paper boat represents the vulnerability of migrant boats on their perilous journeys.
