The Sea Boat's Crew

A rowboat filled with people represented in silhouette sails away from the viewer. Drypoint burr gives a sense of depth and rhythm to the waves. Light etching throughout the sky gives the impression of a scattering of clouds pierced by beams of light. Signed by artist.

Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971) was a British marine artist. Wilkinson began his career as an illustrator working for the London Illustrated News, and designing posters for the National Railway. Wilkinson helped to design dazzle camouflage during the First World War.
