The Right Honorable Alexander Lord Bridport, Admiral of the White, &c
A full-length portrait of Alexander Hood (1726–1814) in admiral’s undress uniform, 1787–95, with the sash and star of the Order of the Bath and a cockade hat. Resting his right hand on his sword and holding a telescope in his left, he stands beside a cannon on the deck of a ship with a naval engagement in the background. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘The Right Honourable Alexander Lord Bridport, Admiral of the White, &c. Rear Admiral of England & Commander in Chief of the Grand Fleet in the Channel.’ Also lettered with the publication line, ‘London, Published June 6 1797 by Haines & Son, 19 Rolls Buildings, Fetter Lane.’ This print was published by Haines and Son on 6 June 1797.
