Sketches of sailing vessels including Spica and John Pitcairn 1895

This page features sketches of various sailing vessels in pencil and pen-and-ink, coloured in places with watercolour.

One of the largest sketches on the page, on the upper right, is a starboard broadside view of an iron-hulled barque, inscribed ‘Spica’, in ink and watercolour. Below this is a pencil sketch of a brig, inscribed ‘John Pitcairn / 1895’.

Further sketches of vessels under sail fill the rest of the page. An inscription in the lower left reads ‘An old friend in ballast who went to wind-ward of us the other day has turned up to leeward of us this morning’.
