'Golden lion' [Lion figurehead]
Gilded and painted figurehead of a crouching and snarling lion, locally called 'Golden Lion', from an unidentified vessel. Nothing is definitely known of its origins, or how it arrived in the Valhalla Collection on Tresco, though there is a tradition that it came from a wreck off Land's End.
