Set of wooden pegs
Set of wooden pegs, in blubber-soot stained paper envelope, belonging to Dr Alexander Hepburne Macklin (1889-1967), surgeon on Shackletons last two expeditions. Within painted commemorative Prince of Wales 'Callard & Bowser's Butter Scotch' tin. The pegs were cut from the sides of a nutfood box during Macklin's stay on Elephant Island. He used them to repair his boots.
