Punch and Judy puppet: black servant puppet head
Head of a glove puppet, part of a Punch and Judy set belonging to puppeteer Peter Butchard (1909-2009). The carved and painted wooden head of a black character. Steel tacks remain where the hair was attached. A fragment of the white cotton body still remains at the neck also attached with tacks. The Punch and Judy plot featured a black servant who came on to complain on behalf of his master about Punch's singing.
