A 3-pounder Manby mortar for getting a line on board a vessel in distress. Includes shot and leather becket. Inscribed 'G.W. Manby Capt FRS Inventor'. Manufactured by S.V. Moore Yarmouth'. Manby's apparatus was first successfully used in 1808, so this is a later piece since he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1831.
