Incised and partly coloured stone memorial plaque for the former Nelson-Ward Gallery. This records the gift of the Nelson-Ward collection to the Museum c. 1952 [TBC] from the family. It was originally set on a wall in the original Nelson-Ward Gallery - a space which no longer exists - on the NMM ground floor at the junction of the West and South Wings. From 1977 until the Neptune Court redevelopment started in about 1994 it was mounted on a floor-level stand placed under a side-table in a small display bay of former Gallery 10 (Nelson), whose window gave into the lower part of the South Wing arcade and which showed furniture, prints and other objects formerly at Nelson's home at Merton and mostly of Nelson-Ward provenance.
