Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland
A view of the starboard 6 inch gun mounting on the forecastle deck, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The shield of the 6 inch gun has been heavily damaged by splinters caused by a 12 inch shell hit inboard of the mounting. This photograph was taken in No.1 Dry Dock at Rosyth.
