Shell damage suffered by HMS Warspite at Jutland

A close view looking towards the stern of the aft end of the forward shelter deck, port side, showing damage suffered by HMS Warspite (1913) on 31 May 1916 during the Battle of Jutland. The damage to this area was caused by a 12 inch shell which entered the opposite side of the ship and burst inside the shelter deck. Negative N16503 shows a different view of this area (a closer view of the plating to the left of this image) and N16510 shows the original entry point of the shell.
