Brooch

Oval metal brooch, the brooch is surmounted by a crown and surrounded by laurel with a rope twist border. Executed in relief in the centre of the brooch is a depiction of Nelson's Column, which is located in Trafalgar Square, London. The name 'ADMIRALTY' is inscribed below the column. WRNS personnel who worked for the Admiralty during the First World War wore this type of brooch.
