Tally stick
Tally stick. Replica of original 17th-century gunner's tallystick from Dutch East Indiaman 'Batavia' wrecked in 1629. Four sides, tapering towards one end, with a carving of an acorn at the opposite end. Each face has a numbered scale marked on it. Inscribed 'S PARKER NMM 1974'. Replica of original from Dutch East Indiaman 'Batavia' wrecked in 1629.
