Gold chain
Gold chain awarded to William Penn (senior) by Parliament in 1653 with the related medal, the chain then being worth £100. According to the ODNB entry on Penn a further £30 followed but whether this was added as further links to the chain is not stated. The links are figure-8s, opposed by the two parts being at right angles. (It is here shown on stand on which it was displayed in the 1990s Treasury in the QH basement: MEC1115.2 is the fitted box in which it was previously kept).
