Medal commemorating Captain Emilio Faa di Bruno and the sinking of the Re d'Italia, 1866. Obverse: Head of Captain Faa di Bruno (left), whiskers and moustache. Legend: 'EMILIO FAA DI BRUNO.' Reverse: Within a band, port broadside view of the battleship Re d'Italia sinking by the stern, flags flying. Legend: 'NELLE AQUE DI LISSA STRENUAMENTE PUGNANDO EBBE INVIDIABILE TOMBA . MDCCCLXVI.' (Fighting strenuously he found an enviable grave in the waters of Lissa.)
