Medal commemorating the action of the brig 'Mercury', 1829. Obverse: Within a laurel garland the imperial arms. Reverse: Mercury (centre), standing on a shell decorated with the imperial arms, the Russian naval ensign unfurled in his left hand, striking with his sword raised at a man (left) astride a sea horse and a triton (right), both raising their clubs. Legend in Russian (The exploit of the brig 'Mercury'). Exergue in Russian (From the model by Count Tolstoy 1838). The 'Mercury' fought gallantly against two Turkish ships of the line in the war and beat them off.
