        Medal commemorating the action off Beachy Head, 1690. Obverse: Head of King Louis XIV in a long wig with curls on the neck (right). Legend: 'LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANNISIMUS.' Reverse: On a large trophy of sterns of stranded ships with Dutch and English flags a standing winged Victory, holding a wreath and palm branch in either hand. Legend: 'MERSA ET FVGATA ANGLORVM ET BATAV . CLASSE.' (The English and Dutch fleets sunk and put to flight.) Exergue: 'AD ORAS ANGLIAE . M . DC . XC.'
