Obverse: In a circle the arms of Scarborough (centre), a ribbon below; above, a distant view of the sea and three ships bombarding the town (left), shells bursting overhead; below, two separate views (left and right) of the town and beach. Inscription (around arms): 'SIGILLUM COMUNE BURGENSIN DE SCARDEBURG.' On ribbon: 'SCARBOROUGH STILL UNDISMAYED.' Reverse: Inscription, 'BOMBARDMENT OF SCARBOROUGH & NONCOMBATANTS BY THE GERMAN FLEET DEC. 16TH 1914.'
