Shaving brush

A whalebone-handled brush, possibly a shaving brush. The handle has a removable key in the end. An example of the utilitarian items made from whalebone such as clothes pegs and pie crimpers. It may have been made commercially rather than by whalemen. This type of item is stll regarded as scrimshaw. It is likely to be associated with the London whale fleet.
