Reverse: The admiral's coat of arms with coronet above surmounted by the head of a trident, resting upon two crossed anchors and a trophy of guns, flags, etc. Above, a view of the town of Utrecht; underneath inscription: 'OBIIT 7 JUNI 1672' (Died 7 June 1672). Legend: 'DAAR . BEEFT . AL'T . AFRIKAANSCHE . STRANT DE . MOOR . ZIET . ZELF . ZIJN . VERF . VERBLEEKEN' (The Moor sees his colour pale; the coast of Africa trembles).
