Medal commemorating General Lord Kitchener, 1916. Obverse: Bust of General Horatio Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916), face three-quarter left, in uniform, battleships in distance (left and right), troops marching below. Legend: 'KITCHENER'. Reverse: Port-bow view of a battleship engaging another on fire at close quarters, others in distance in action. Kitchener died on 5 June 1916 in the loss of HMS Hampshire, sunk by a German mine off the Orkneys.
