Obverse: Stern view of a boat under square-rigged sail partly visible, with guns projecting on either side and an American (Uncle Sam) seated, facing, holding the steering gear. Legend: 'FRIEDEN ZIELE' (Peace terms). Reverse: A man in the water with horror-stricken face clutching a life-buoy inscribed 'AMERIKA'. Legend: '3. FEBRVAR. 1917.' (A drowning England reaches for the lifebuoy of American support.)
