Medal commemorating W. Bauer, Engineer (1822-1875), 60th anniversary of his death. Obverse: Bust of the engineer (front). 'INGENIEUR WILH. BAUER'. Inscription: '1822 1875'. Reverse: A nude figure of a man rising from the sea, supporting in his arms a submarine of early design. Legend: 'ER BAUER . ERSTEN . DEUTSCHEN'. Inscription: 'U BOOTS'. W. Bauer designed the first German submarine.
