Capture of Louisbourg Medal 1758
Awarded to Capt. Alexander Schomberg. Obverse: A Grenadier (L) turning towards a woman crushed below the globe, who points to approaching boats, and a sailor waving his hat (R). Fame flying above with trumpet and wreath. Inscription on globe: "CANADA", "AMERICA". Reverse: Batteries in the foreground and (R) firing at two French vessels, one (a) in flames (The Prudent) and one (b) being towed away (The Bienfaisant). The English fleet in the background. Legend: "LOVISBOVRG . TAKEN . MDCCLVIII". On a ribbon above: "PARITER IN BELLA". Conferred on selected recipients for distinguished service. In a fitted box.
