Order of St.George for Military Merit, Knight, 3rd Class
Duchy of Lucca, Order of St George for Military Merit, awarded to Sir George Back (1796-1878). Badge: Silver cross patée; in the centre, a medallion showing: obverse: St George slaying the dragon. It is surrounded with a band inscribed: 'AL MERITO MILITARE'. Reverse: The cypher 'CL' with Ducal Crown above (the initials of the founder Charles Louis de Bourbon).The badge is suspended from a red moire ribbon with central white stripe. George Back visited Lucca and had an audience with the Duke in 1831.
