Admiralty Type J (heavy weather card)
Card-Dia. 7.6" (19.3cm) Mica covered with paper, blue with black and blue markings.Graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees. Black painted brass pivot cap with speculum metal bearing at centre.
Needle-Four parallel heavy edge bar needles. Two x 7.25" (18.4cm) long, each of four laminations, 0.5" (1.3cm) deep having a semi-circular swell at centre, 1.25" (3.2cm). Two x 5" (12.7cm) long, each of two laminations 0.5" (1.3cm) deep. The pivot cap is mounted in a crossframe attached to the needles. Two brass strips are fitted in the N & S line each carries a sliding weight.
