Mug

Creamware mug, transfer-printed in black and hand-coloured, with a medallion portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), a coronet and rays above, and the inscription 'TRAFALGAR'. Over the medallion, the winged figure of fame is shown blowing a trumpet and on either side are British ensigns and weapons with ships at sea behind. Below is a verse 'The Briton mourns what else can Britons do/While bleeding Nelson rises to her view/Still is there cause for Triumph when she shews/The captured colours of our Vanquish'd foes/And greater still when Fame was heard to say/All all was Nelsons on that glorious day'. The rim is painted with a black line.
